Gus Grissom: The Lost Astronaut Book Competition

As the era of NASA’s Space Shuttle draws to a close, thoughts turn back to how we got here and how the efforts and sacrifices of brave men and women enabled space travel and the first steps on the moon. 2011 marks the 50th Anniversary of one of these pioneering events, the Flight of Liberty Bell 7, and the achievements of one very special local hero, Virgil Ivan ‘Gus’ Grissom.

Smithville captured the wonderful event celebrating the life of Gus Grissom and the profound impact he left on Indiana and the world.
